What this is
By using Robinn (the website at robinn.app and any subdomains) you agree to these terms. If you don't agree, don't use the site. We may update these terms; the “Last reviewed” date above tells you when.
What Robinn is and isn't
Robinn publishes free educational tools, calculators, and articles about Canadian personal finance. We are not a financial institution, broker, advisor, or licensed professional of any kind. Using the site does not create any kind of professional relationship between you and Robinn or its operators.
See our disclaimer for the longer version of what we are and are not telling you.
Acceptable use
You agree not to:
- Use the site for anything illegal, fraudulent, or harmful.
- Scrape the site at volumes that materially affect performance for others.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract source code or proprietary data.
- Attempt to gain unauthorized access to any part of the site or its underlying systems.
- Submit false email addresses or impersonate another person via the email capture forms.
Content ownership
All content on Robinn — articles, calculator code, design, and written copy — is owned by Robinn unless explicitly attributed to a third party. You may quote short excerpts of written content for non-commercial purposes with a link back to the source. You may link to any page on Robinn freely. Using more than a fair-use excerpt, or republishing content as your own, requires written permission.
Calculators are free to use directly on robinn.app. Embedding, mirroring, or redistributing their code requires written permission.
AI training and fair use
Robinn explicitly permits major AI services to crawl and reference our content with attribution — see our robots.txt. We consider citation by AI assistants to be a legitimate use of published content. We do not waive copyright; full reproduction of articles by an AI service without attribution remains infringement.
Newsletter
If you subscribe to the newsletter, you can unsubscribe at any time via the link at the bottom of every email, or by emailing us directly. Unsubscribing has no other consequences.
No warranties
Robinn is provided “as is” without warranties of any kind, express or implied, including but not limited to merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, accuracy, or non-infringement. We make no guarantee that the site will be available without interruption, or that calculator results will be free of error.
No liability for decisions
Decisions you make based on information from Robinn — investment choices, mortgage applications, tax filings, anything else — are your own. We are not liable for any loss or damage arising from your use of the site, including but not limited to financial loss, opportunity cost, or any consequential, incidental, or punitive damages, regardless of the cause of action.
To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total aggregate liability for any claim arising from your use of the site is limited to CAD $0, reflecting that the site is offered to you free of charge.
Indemnification
You agree to indemnify and hold harmless Robinn, its operators, and its contributors from any claim arising out of your breach of these terms or your unlawful use of the site.
Third-party links
We link to third-party sites (Bank of Canada, CRA, Government of Canada, individual lenders) where useful. We don't control those sites and aren't responsible for their content, policies, or practices.
Governing law
These terms are governed by the laws of the Province of Ontario and the federal laws of Canada applicable in Ontario, without regard to conflict-of-laws rules. Any dispute will be brought in the courts of Ontario, Canada, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
Severability
If any part of these terms is found unenforceable, the rest remains in effect. The unenforceable part will be replaced by an enforceable provision that most closely matches the intent of the original.
